Product image checking, cleanup and optimization

Product Photo Validation, Cleanup, and Optimization is a module for OkayCMS that helps detect problematic images, unnecessary files, and incorrect product photo records.

The module analyzes database records, original images, and resized copies created by the system. It detects missing and damaged files, duplicate photos, zero-byte files, incorrect filenames, and original images that can be optimized without quality loss.

For convenient validation, the module provides reports for individual products, folders, and the entire files directory.

Detecting problematic photos

The module can detect:

• unnecessary photo records in the database;
• files in the originals folder that are not used by any products;
• damaged product photos;
• zero-byte resized files;
• photos with missing original files;
• incorrect filename values containing a URL or path instead of a filename;
• similar photos and duplicates within the same product;
• original images that can be optimized without quality loss.

Working with duplicates

The module analyzes photos within a product page and helps detect similar or duplicate images.

For more accurate validation, the module provides:

• duplicate search mask configuration;
• the ability to mark a photo as «not a duplicate»;
• results for each individual product;
• safe addition of selected images to the deletion queue.

Safe cleanup

Photos are deleted gradually through a processing queue. This reduces server load and minimizes the risk of:

• 500 and 504 errors;
• insufficient memory;
• the admin panel freezing;
• cleanup interruptions when processing a large number of files.

This approach ensures safe operation even with large product catalogs and a significant number of images.

Reports and diagnostics

The module provides:

• a photo report for an individual product;
• a complete step-by-step validation of the files folder;
• reports for image folders;
• original image analysis for possible lossless optimization;
• an error log for diagnosing problems.
